Zonibyx modestus (Lichtenstein, MHC, 1823)

Rufous-chested Dotterel, Zonibyx modestus, is a plover of southern South America and the Falkland Islands, breeding in inland southern Chile, southern Argentina and the Falkland Islands, and moving in the non-breeding season to coastal southern Peru and south-eastern Brazil. It is a bird of short grasslands in the breeding period, and also uses boggy or stony ground near inland lakes and coastal shingle. Away from breeding, it occurs in grasslands, marshes, streams, mudflats, beaches and rocky shores. Its breeding plumage includes a bright rufous breast with a black band below it.
