Cyornis pelingensis
The Rufous-chested Flycatcher (Cyornis pelingensis) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the forests of the Malay Peninsula and the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. It is known for its distinctive rufous-chested plumage, with a contrasting bluish-grey head and back. The species is characterized by its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Rufous-chested Flycatchers forage for insects by making short sallies from perches, capturing prey in mid-air. They are known to breed in the understory of primary and secondary forests, often near streams or clearings. Despite being relatively common within its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
