Rufous-chested flycatcher

Ianthocincla ocellata

The Rufous-chested flycatcher is a small bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its rufous-colored chest and belly, contrasting with its dark wings and tail. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard during the breeding season. Rufous-chested flycatchers feed on insects and are often observed perching on branches or making short flights to catch their prey. They prefer dense, moist forests with a thick understory, where they build cup-shaped nests to raise their young. While not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations may face threats from habitat loss and degradation.
