Rufous-chested Flycatcher

Cyornis ruficrissa

The Rufous-chested Flycatcher (Cyornis ruficrissa) is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive rufous chest and belly, contrasting with a dark blue-grey upper body. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Rufous-chested Flycatchers primarily feed on insects, which they catch by sallying from perches or by hawking in flight. They build cup-shaped nests in tree hollows or crevices, where the female lays and incubates the eggs. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to its population.
