Rufous-chested Tanager, Thlypopsis ornata, is a bird of South America, recorded from Colombia to Peru. It belongs to the tanager family, Thraupidae, and was described by Sclater, PL, in 1859. Its range includes Ecuador, Peru and south-western Colombia. It occurs in subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, in subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and in heavily degraded former forest.
