Rufous-crowned Laughingthrush

Pterorhinus ruficeps (Gould, 1863)

Rufous-crowned Laughingthrush, Pterorhinus ruficeps, is a bird of the Leiothrichidae family that breeds in Taiwan. It is restricted to that island and is part of the laughingthrush group. The species was once treated as the same as the white-throated laughingthrush, P. albogularis. It was also formerly placed in Garrulax, but a molecular study published in 2018 led to its transfer to the revived genus Pterorhinus. It was described by Gould in 1863.
