Rufous-eared Brushfinch, Atlapetes rufigenis, is a passerine of the family Passerellidae that breeds in Peru. It was first described by Salvin in 1895 and is confined to South America there. The bird is found in montane scrub and Polylepis woodland close to the treeline, mainly in the upper Marañón watershed of northern Peru, with an additional presence in the Cordillera Blanca. It is a year-round resident. Its most notable feature is the rufous head with white lores and a broad white moustache, set against dark smoky grey upperparts.
