Rufous-faced Antbird, Myrmelastes rufifacies, breeds in eastern Amazonian Brazil, where it lives in the central Amazon Basin south of the Amazon. It is a bird of terra firme evergreen forest, especially on the forest floor and in the understorey, and it also turns up in seasonally flooded forest. Within these habitats it is most often found in poorly drained places and beside small watercourses. It was described by Hellmayr in 1929 and belongs to the antbird family.
