The Rufous-faced Antpitta's habitat is primarily montane cloud forests and mossy woodlands, where it can be found at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 3,300 meters. Despite its restricted range and habitat loss, the conservation status of this species is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
