Rufous Fantail

Rhipidura phoenicura

The Rufous Fantail (Rhipidura phoenicura) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia and the Pacific islands. It is known for its distinctive rufous plumage, with a black head, white throat, and long, fanned tail. This agile and active bird is often seen darting through the undergrowth, catching insects on the wing. It builds a cup-shaped nest from plant fibers and spider webs, often placed in the fork of a tree. The Rufous Fantail is known for its melodious and varied song, which it uses to communicate with its mate and defend its territory.
