Sericornis keri
The Rufous Fieldwren (Sericornis keri) is a small, terrestrial bird found in the woodlands and shrublands of eastern Australia. It has a distinctive rufous plumage on its back and wings, with a white belly and dark streaks on its chest. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Rufous Fieldwrens forage on the ground for insects and small invertebrates, using their long, curved bills to probe leaf litter and soil. They build dome-shaped nests from grass and bark, typically hidden in dense vegetation. While not currently classified by the IUCN, the Rufous Fieldwren may face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
