Rufous Flycatcher

Myiophobus rufescens

The Rufous Flycatcher (Myiophobus rufescens) is a small passerine bird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its distinctive rufous plumage on the upperparts and a white throat and belly. This species is often found in humid montane forests and adjacent woodland habitats, where it perches on branches and sallies out to catch flying insects. The Rufous Flycatcher is known for its distinctive call, a sharp 'che-bek' or 'pseet' sound. It is a solitary bird and is often seen foraging alone or in pairs. This species is not currently considered at risk and is widely distributed within its range.
