Rufous Gnateater

Conopophaga lineata

The Rufous Gnateater is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Atlantic Forest of South America. It is known for its distinctive rufous plumage and secretive behavior, often foraging on the forest floor and remaining hidden among dense vegetation. This species is characterized by its short tail, stout bill, and cryptic coloration, which provides effective camouflage in its preferred habitat. The Rufous Gnateater's diet primarily consists of insects and other small invertebrates. Due to ongoing habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of this species is of concern.
