The Rufous-headed Chachalaca is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive rufous head and neck, contrasting with its grayish-brown body. These birds are social and often seen in small flocks foraging for fruits, seeds, and insects. Their loud and raucous calls can be heard echoing through the forest canopy. Rufous-headed Chachalacas play an important role in seed dispersal and contribute to the diversity of their forest habitats. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, their populations are currently stable.
