Geositta rufipennis
The Rufous-legged Miner is a small, terrestrial bird found in the Andes of South America. It is characterized by its rufous legs and streaked brown plumage, with a distinctive white supercilium. This species forages on the ground for insects and seeds, often using its long, decurved bill to probe into the soil. It prefers open, arid habitats with sparse vegetation, such as puna grasslands and rocky slopes. The Rufous-legged Miner is known for its distinctive, melodious song, often delivered from a prominent rock or perch. While not currently considered threatened, its habitat is increasingly impacted by human activities.
