Strix albitarsis
The Rufous-legged Owl (Strix albitarsis) is a medium-sized owl found in the cloud forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive rufous-colored legs and a mottled brown and white plumage, providing excellent camouflage in its forest habitat. These owls are primarily nocturnal and hunt small mammals, birds, and insects. They are known for their haunting hooting calls during the night.
