Rufous Mourner Rhytipterna holerythra is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family, found from southern Mexico through Middle America to north-west Ecuador and into South America. It was first described by Sclater and Salvin in 1860. The species belongs in Rhytipterna, a genus it shares with the pale-bellied mourner and the greyish mourner. It is a resident bird of humid evergreen forest and mature secondary forest in lowland tropical and lower subtropical areas, and it nests in tree cavities such as old woodpecker holes.
