The Rufous-necked Wood-Rail (Aramides wolfi) is a striking bird found in the wetlands and marshes of South America. With its distinctive rufous neck and chestnut plumage, this medium-sized rail is known for its loud, repetitive calls that echo through its habitat. It is often found foraging for invertebrates and small vertebrates in dense vegetation near water. The Rufous-necked Wood-Rail is a secretive bird, preferring to stay hidden in the thick reeds and grasses. While it faces threats from habitat loss and hunting, it is not currently considered to be at risk according to the IUCN.
