Rufous Piha, Lipaugus unirufus, is a passerine in the Cotingidae family and breeds from southern Mexico through Middle America to north-west Ecuador. It was described by Sclater, PL, 1860. It is a forest bird of humid evergreen and mature secondary woodland in the lowlands, and it may also appear in more open places with scattered trees. The nominate form ranges widely across Central America and into Colombia, while L. u. castaneotinctus occurs in south-western Colombia and north-western Ecuador. The species is a year-round resident and is often seen singly, with a similar appearance to the rufous mourner and speckled mourner.
