Rufous Sabrewing, Pampa rufa, is a hummingbird of Middle America, breeding from south-west Mexico through Guatemala to El Salvador. It occurs on the western slopes of highland country, including the Sierra Madre de Chiapas in Oaxaca and south-eastward to Volcán de San Salvador. It uses humid evergreen montane forest, pine-oak woodland, and coffee plantations, along with their edges. The species is mostly sedentary, though it may shift in altitude or travel in search of nectar. It has a straight, stout black bill, and the sexes are much alike in plumage.
