Rufous Sibia

Heterophasia pulchella

The Rufous Sibia is a strikingly beautiful bird found in the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive rufous plumage, with a black mask and white markings on the wings. These birds are often seen in small groups, foraging for insects and fruits in the forest canopy. They have a melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. The Rufous Sibia plays a vital role in forest ecosystems by dispersing seeds and controlling insect populations. However, habitat loss and fragmentation pose significant threats to their populations.
