Rufous Sibia

Heterophasia melanoleuca

The Rufous Sibia, scientifically known as Heterophasia melanoleuca, is a medium-sized songbird found in the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its striking combination of rufous and black plumage, with a white belly and distinctive facial markings. This species is known for its melodious calls and often forms small flocks in the canopy of montane forests. Rufous Sibias are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense foliage. They are known for their acrobatic flight and agile movements as they navigate through the forest canopy. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
