Rufous Spinetail, Synallaxis unirufa, is a bird of the ovenbird family Furnariidae that breeds in north-west Venezuela and west to central Peru, with a wider Andean range through Colombia and Ecuador. It was described by Lafresnaye in 1843. This is a disjunct mountain species of evergreen forest, elfin forest and cloudforest edge, especially in dense undergrowth and Chusquea bamboo. It is a resident throughout the year. The species has four subspecies, and the forms differ noticeably in voice, with repeated songs given from cover, often in the morning.
