Synallaxis subpudica
The Rufous Spinetail (Synallaxis subpudica) is a small, secretive bird found in the subtropical and tropical moist montane forests of South America. It is characterized by its rufous plumage, long tail, and slender bill. These birds are often observed foraging in dense undergrowth, where they feed on insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their distinctive vocalizations, consisting of rapid, high-pitched trills. The Rufous Spinetail is generally solitary or found in pairs, and it builds dome-shaped nests from plant fibers and moss. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its populations.
