Rufous-tailed Attila

Attila phoenicurus Pelzeln, 1868

Rufous-tailed Attila, Attila phoenicurus, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family found in south-east Brazil, through Amazonia, and south to north-east Argentina, with non-breeding birds reaching southern Venezuela. It was described by Pelzeln in 1868. The species is a forest bird of humid secondary growth and its edges, especially where Araucaria is present, and it also uses scrubland. It is placed in a broad South American range and is known to move north from its breeding areas during the austral winter.
