Rufous-tailed Hawk, Buteo ventralis, is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family that breeds in southern Chile and south-western Argentina. It is a hawk of forests and open country, and has also been recorded in shrubland and grassland. The species is known from Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. It is similar to the Red-tailed Hawk. Two plumage forms are described, one paler and one darker. Charles Darwin noted it during the voyage of the Beagle, and its call is given as kee-ahrr.
