Rufous-tailed Jungle-Flycatcher

Cyornis ruficauda

The Rufous-tailed Jungle-Flycatcher is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive rufous tail and greyish-brown upperparts. The underparts are pale grey with a whitish throat and belly. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. It feeds on insects and small invertebrates, foraging from mid to high canopy levels. The Rufous-tailed Jungle-Flycatcher builds cup-shaped nests in dense vegetation, where the female lays and incubates the eggs. Although not globally threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose localized threats to this species.
