Phyllolais pulchella
The Rufous-tailed Lark (Phyllolais pulchella) is a small, ground-dwelling bird found in open grasslands and scrub habitats across parts of Asia and Africa. This species is characterized by its rufous tail, streaked brown upperparts, and a pale belly. Rufous-tailed Larks are known for their melodious song, often delivered from a low perch or during aerial displays. They forage for seeds and insects on the ground, using their strong bill to probe the soil. These birds are highly adapted to arid and semi-arid environments, where they can be found in dry grasslands, agricultural fields, and open savannas. The Rufous-tailed Lark is not currently considered at risk and is widely distributed across its range.
