Rufous-thighed Kite, Harpagus diodon, is a bird of prey of South America, breeding in southern Brazil, northern Argentina and Paraguay, and ranging more widely through Amazonia and south-east South America. It is a member of the Accipitridae and is not closely allied to most other kites. The species is named for its chestnut thighs. Adults show slate grey upperparts, a grey tail with paler bars and white tips, a whitish throat with a dark central streak, and red or orange eyes with yellow to orange legs.
