Rufous-throated Swallow

The Rufous-throated Swallow is a small passerine bird native to South America. It is characterized by its distinctive rufous throat and upper breast, contrasting with a white belly. The upperparts are glossy blue-black, and the tail is deeply forked. These agile birds are often seen in flight, darting and swooping to catch insects. They are typically found in open areas near water, such as marshes, rivers, and lakeshores. Rufous-throated Swallows are social birds, often nesting in colonies and utilizing man-made structures for their mud nests. Their conservation status is currently labeled as Least Concern by the IUCN.
