The Rufous-vented Chachalaca is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive call, a series of loud, raucous squawks. This species has a brownish plumage with rufous undertail coverts and a red facial patch. They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, and buds. Rufous-vented Chachalacas are social birds, often seen in small flocks foraging in the canopy. They build their nests in trees and lay clutches of eggs. Despite some habitat loss, they are currently not considered to be at risk, with a stable population across their range.
