Rufous-vented Tit

Periparus rubidiventris

The Rufous-vented Tit (Periparus rubidiventris) is a small passerine bird found in the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive rufous-colored vent and black and white plumage. This species is often found in mixed-species foraging flocks in montane forests, where it feeds on insects, seeds, and berries. Rufous-vented Tits are known for their acrobatic foraging behavior, often hanging upside down to reach food. They build their nests in tree cavities and are known for their melodious calls. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to their populations.
