Rufous-winged Ground Cuckoo, Neomorphus rufipennis, lives in South America in southern Venezuela, Guyana and northern Brazil. It is a cuckoo of mature evergreen forest and upland terra firme forest, and it stays in the same area all year. The bird is mainly ground-dwelling, moving on foot through the forest floor and only taking short flights or hopping to low branches when needed. Its most notable feature is the heavy downcurved bill, and adults show the same plumage in both sexes. Juveniles differ from adults, with browner upperparts and slate underparts.
