The Rupununi Hermit (Phaethornis rupurumii) is a species of hummingbird found in the Rupununi region of southern Guyana. This small bird is characterized by its distinctive long, slightly decurved bill and iridescent green plumage. It is known for its unique feeding behavior, often visiting flowers and feeding on nectar while hovering in mid-air. The Rupununi Hermit is also known to consume small insects and spiders as part of its diet. This species is typically found in lowland tropical forests and savannas, where it can be observed darting between the foliage in search of food.
