Russet-bellied Spinetail, Synallaxis zimmeri, is a passerine of the ovenbird family found in west-central Peru, where it breeds on the western Andean slope. It was described by Koepcke in 1957. The bird is tied to dry scrub with thick stands of low, thorny trees and bushes, and it is recorded from scattered sites between western La Libertad and Ancash. It stays in the same area all year. Its range is limited, and it is the southernmost Synallaxis on the Andes’ western side.
