Russet-crowned Warbler

Geothlypis formosa

The Russet-crowned Warbler is a small, insectivorous bird found in the highland forests of Mexico and Central America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, yellow underparts, and a distinctive russet crown. This warbler is known for its energetic foraging behavior, often seen flitting among the foliage in search of insects and spiders. It builds its nest on the ground, concealed among fallen leaves and twigs. The Russet-crowned Warbler's melodious song can often be heard echoing through the misty cloud forests where it resides.
