Liosceles thoracicus (Sclater, PL, 1865)
Rusty-belted Tapaculo, Liosceles thoracicus, is a passerine of the tapaculo family in western and south-western Amazonia. It is the only species in its genus, and its breeding range covers Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. First described by Sclater in 1865, it is the sole tapaculo known from the Amazonian rainforest. It lives mainly in humid terra firme forest, and also occurs in várzea. It is recorded from the forest floor and low branches, and its breeding range reaches up to 1,000 m in Peru.
