Sterrhoptilus capitalis (Tweeddale, 1877)

Rusty-crowned Babbler, Sterrhoptilus capitalis, is a bird of the southern Philippines, with a breeding range in the East Visayas and the Mindanao group. It belongs to the family Zosteropidae and was described by Tweeddale in 1877. It lives in tropical moist lowland forest, especially in the undergrowth of primary forest and along forest edges. Records place it in Mindanao, Dinagat Islands and Basilan, with subspecies on Dinagat Islands, Mindanao outside the Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Zamboanga Peninsula and Basilan. It is usually encountered alone, in pairs, or with mixed forest flocks.
