Rusty Pitohui, Pseudorectes ferrugineus, is a bird of New Guinea and its satellite islands, including the Aru Islands, where it occurs in lowland and hill forest. It belongs to the Pachycephalidae family and was described by Bonaparte in 1850. It is the largest member of its family. The species has a strong black bill, though birds from Waigeo and Batanta have a whitish bill. Both sexes look alike. It is also known from eastern and southern New Guinea, north-western New Guinea, Misool, Salawati, Yapen, Waigeo and Batanta.
