Rusty-throated wren-babbler

Spelaeornis caudatus

The Rusty-throated wren-babbler (Spelaeornis caudatus) is a small, elusive bird found in the eastern Himalayas. It is known for its distinctive rusty-colored throat and cryptic plumage, which helps it blend into the dense undergrowth of its forest habitat. This species is primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor and in low vegetation for insects and small invertebrates. The Rusty-throated wren-babbler is often heard before it is seen, as it has a loud, melodious song that echoes through the forest. Due to its secretive nature and remote habitat, this species is not often encountered by birdwatchers.
