The Ruwenzori masked weaver (Ploceus ruweti) is a small passerine bird native to the Albertine Rift montane forests of East Africa. This weaver is known for its striking black mask and bright yellow plumage, with males displaying more vibrant colors than females. The species is highly social and often forms large colonies for breeding. Ruwenzori masked weavers are adept at constructing intricate, hanging, gourd-shaped nests from grass and other plant fibers. They primarily feed on insects and seeds, foraging in the forest canopy and edges. Despite facing habitat loss and some localized threats, the overall population of the Ruwenzori masked weaver is currently considered stable.
