Sabin's puffback

Dryoscopus sabini

Sabin's puffback (Dryoscopus sabini) is a small passerine bird found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a black head and back, and white underparts. The male has a conspicuous puffy back, which it displays during courtship and territorial displays. Sabin's puffback is an insectivorous bird, often foraging in the mid to upper levels of trees for insects and small invertebrates. It builds a cup-shaped nest in a tree, where the female lays and incubates the eggs. This species is not considered to be globally threatened and is relatively common within its range.
