Sagebrush Sparrow

Artemisiospiza nevadensis

The Sagebrush Sparrow, also known as the Sage Sparrow, is a small bird found in the sagebrush habitats of the western United States and northern Mexico. It has a distinctive grayish-brown plumage with pale streaks on the back and wings. The species is known for its melodic and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Sagebrush Sparrows forage on the ground for seeds and insects, and they build cup-shaped nests on the ground or low in shrubs. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the Sagebrush Sparrow faces conservation challenges in some parts of its range.
