Brotogeris sanctithomae

The Saint Thomas parakeet, scientifically known as Brotogeris sanctithomae, is a small parrot species native to the Caribbean island of Saint Thomas. These parakeets are characterized by their vibrant green plumage, with a yellowish tinge on the head and neck. They are social birds often found in flocks, and their vocalizations include high-pitched chirps and squawks. Saint Thomas parakeets primarily inhabit forested areas, including both primary and secondary forests, and are also known to frequent agricultural areas. Their diet consists of various fruits, seeds, and vegetation. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the conservation status of the species is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
