Salmon-crested cockatoo

Cacatua moluccensis

The Salmon-crested cockatoo is a striking parrot species native to the Moluccan islands in Indonesia. It is known for its vibrant salmon-colored crest, which contrasts with its white plumage. These social birds are highly intelligent and form strong pair bonds. They are often found in forested areas and are known for their loud calls and playful behavior. Unfortunately, they are threatened by habitat loss and the illegal pet trade. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their remaining populations.
