Salvadori's Teal is a duck of montane New Guinea in Australasia, and it belongs to the family Anatidae and the order Anseriformes. It is the only species in its genus. The bird is found in New Guinea and lives in highland waters, especially fast-moving streams, though it also occurs in lakes. It is an omnivore. For breeding, it places its nest close to water and lays two to four eggs during the dry season.
