Antrostomus salvini
Salvin's Nightjar (Antrostomus salvini) is a nocturnal bird species found in the highlands of southern Mexico and Guatemala. This species is characterized by its cryptic plumage, large eyes, and wide gape. It is a relatively small nightjar, measuring around 22-24 cm in length. Salvin's Nightjar is a skilled aerial hunter, preying on insects in its forested mountain habitats. Its cryptic plumage provides excellent camouflage during the day, and it roosts on the ground or low branches. The IUCN conservation status of Salvin's Nightjar is currently listed as Least Concern.
