Sand Lark, Alaudala raytal, is a lark of the Oriental Region, breeding from Iran to Myanmar. It belongs to the family Alaudidae and the order Passeriformes. The bird is linked with sandy river margins, where it uses islands and banks beside water, and it also occurs on nearby fields, coastal dunes and dry mud-flats. It is a small, short-tailed species with a fine bill, and its plumage is dull brownish grey with faint streaking above. Three subspecies are recognised, with the western birds paler and the eastern birds showing a longer, finer bill.
