Sand Partridge, Ammoperdix heyi, is a resident bird of the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt and northern Sudan, belonging to the pheasant family within Galliformes. It lives in dry open country, especially where the ground is broken by hills, rocks and sandy wadis, and it is also found on slopes and in valleys. Its range is centred in the Middle East. The bird is closely tied to arid habitats with scattered vegetation and needs access to water. It is a non-migratory species, and its breeding season varies by location across its range.
