Santarem Parakeet, Pyrrhura amazonum, breeds in south-central and south-eastern Amazonia in South America. It is a parrot in the Psittacidae family, first described by Hellmayr in 1906. The bird is tied to tropical humid lowland forest and nearby habitats, and its range is limited to Brazil and Bolivia. It is usually encountered in pairs or in groups. It nests in tree cavities. It is fairly common across much of its range and is present in several protected areas.
